License Transfer (Reciprocity) From Another State

Please read the requirements below. If you would like an application, please send an email with your name and mailing address to: kelly.kendall@arkansas.gov.

Our reciprocity process requires that an applicant reciprocate off an original license in any state other California. (If you are not sure what an original license is, please send an email to the above mentioned address.) Applicants must submit the License by Reciprocity application and complete the NABP reciprocity process. You may download the NABP reciprocity application at www.nabp.net.

Our applicants are required to take the Arkansas Jurisprudence (Arkansas does not utilize the MPJE) exam and meet with the full Board at a regularly scheduled meeting.

Any applicant wishing to work inside the state of Arkansas will need to submit to a state and federal background check. If the applicant does not plan on working inside the state of Arkansas and is merely fulfilling the requirement in order to gain an Out-of-State Retail permit, it is not necessary to submit to the state and federal background check. (If you will not work in Arkansas, please indicate this in your request for an application.)

If the applicant wishes to obtain a license before the next meeting, he/she may come to Arkansas to take the exam and meet with a Board member. Provided that both applications are successfully completed, the exam is passed and the results of the both background checks are returned (if applicable), the applicant may be granted a temporary license that will expire at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting. At that time, the applicant would then have to return to Arkansas and meet with the full Board.

If the applicant has not completed the NABP application at the time of the Board meeting, he/she may attend the meeting, take the exam and gain approval from the Board to be licensed upon successful completion of the application process. (The ASBP application must be on file before the exam and meeting with the Board can take place.)

To find out the dates of our next Board meeting, please send a message to the above mentioned email address.

Please note that all reciprocity applications are void one year after receipt at the Pharmacy Board if the reciprocity process is not completed. All fees are nonrefundable.
