Arkansas HIV/AIDS Prevention Coalition Increasing Awareness

The Arkansas HIV/AIDS Prevention Coalition will host a book signing featuring Ms. Marvelyn Brown the author of The Naked Truth, on November 21, 2008 at Pyramid Art, Books and Custom Framing. The book signing is located at 500 President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock, Arkansas, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They will also host a youth rally on November 22, 2008, located at The Village on 3901 South University from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The theme of this event is "TEENS RALLYING FOR LIFE." Come out and enjoy free food, free entertain, free screening and free education.

From 1983 to 2007 the state of Arkansas has noted a total of 7,133 cases of HIV/AIDS. While African-Americans comprise only 16% of the population they account for 41% of the HIV cases and 38% of AIDS cases in the state.

The Mission of The Arkansas Minority Health Commission is to assure all minority Arkansans access to health care that is equal to the care provided to other citizens of the state and to seek ways to provide education, address, treat, and prevent diseases and conditions that are prevalent among minority populations.
