The Department of Human Services (DHS) Program Coordinator is responsible fordeveloping and coordinating a statewide program. This position is governed by state andfederal laws and agency policy.
Typical Functions
Supervises a professional and administrative support staff by interviewing andrecommending for hire, training employees or arranging training opportunities, assigningand reviewing work and special projects, evaluating the performance of incumbents, andconducting staff meetings to address problems and obtain status reports. Establishes short and long-range goals, plans, and activities. Develops or participates inthe development of operating policies and procedures, staffing, and program needs. Defines monitoring methods, monitors program or service delivery effectiveness andcompliance, identifies problem areas, and initiates corrective action. Provides technical assistance to internal and external personnel by disseminating andinterpreting laws, policies, and proceduresCoordinates personnel and activities to identify program needs, problems, and progressand implement revisions or corrections. Monitors and approves program expenditures, prepares budget requests for programoperations and develops and monitors provider contracts. Performs administrative duties by reviewing and analyzing statistical data, compilingInformation, preparing reports and correspondence, and researching and recommendinglegislation, trends, and program options. Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to develop, evaluate and analyze programs, services, policies and procedures andimplement needed changes. Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and regulations governing programarea. Ability to prepare, present and review oral and written information and reports.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, businessmanagement, early childhood education, child and family development, or a related field; plus three years of experience in social service program organization, development, administration, or a related field, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants must have the ability read and interpret Blue Prints. An understanding of the AFPC and LSC 101 as it pertains to construction and occupancy is required. Life Safety Code knowledge. Surveyor experience able to gather standard Survey, Follow-up survey and Complaint investigations. Ability to assess deficiencies. Knowledge of Arkansas Fire Prevention Code occupancy requirements and Building Code requirements

Special Work Condition
Instate travel will be required. Some overnight stays will be required. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs and have no limitations with regard to inspection of buildings and facility grounds.
