Summary
The AOC Website Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining the Arkansas Judiciary Website. Under the supervision of the Supreme Court Communications Counsel and the AOC CIS Software Manager, the Website Developer is responsible for analysis, design, coding, development, testing, documentation and implementation of the Drupal/PHP-based website. The Website Developer is responsible for the accuracy, currency, and technology of the Arkansas Judiciary website (https://courts.arkansas.gov). This position, at the direction of the Communications Counsel, is responsible for the day-to-day operations, collaborative efforts, and overall content of the website. The Website Developer is responsible for both the technical aspects of website programming, and, working with the Communications Counsel, the functional aspects of gathering software requirements from departments and translating those requirements into web-based resources.
Typical Functions
Maintain and coordinate multiple web projects using Drupal and PHP
Document the design and architecture of software to meet business requirements
Develop training materials for content managers to maintain current information
Ensure the accuracy and currency of the Arkansas Judiciary website
Work with the appellate courts and ancillary agencies to improve web functionality, at the direction of the Communications Counsel
Write SQL queries to select, update, insert and delete information from a MySQL database
Create PDF documents and forms
Other duties as assigned
Special Job Dimensions
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
o Extensive knowledge and use of PHP, MySQL, Javascript, HTML, XML, CSS, and jQuery
o Expertise with Drupal site administration
o Familiar with Drupal database abstraction layer and template system
o Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues
o Knowledge of software design life cycle and project management methodologies
o Experience with Linux Server and Apache administration
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Excellent technical and analytical skills
o Ability to communicate with both highly technical and non-technical personnel
o Highly organized with demonstrated ability to multi-task
o Ability to document requirements of design and architecture of software to meet business requirements
o Strong team player, self-starter, goal oriented, quick learner
Minimum Education and/or Experience
The Website Developer must have at least three years of professional experience in a leadership role in website development and programming.
Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or an advanced degree in a related field is preferred. Relevant technical and project management certifications are highly desirable.
