How to read the codes on an
Arkansas Drivers License record.


Valid Commercial Classifications:
    A = Any combination of vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more, providing that the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. Minimum age 18.
    B = Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more, and any such vehicle towing a vehicle in excess of 10,000 pounds. Minimum age 18.
    C = Any single vehicle with a GVWR of less than 26,001 pounds or any such vehicle towing a vehicle with a GVWR not in excess of 26,001 pounds or any such vehicle towing a vehicle with a GVWR not in excess of 10,000 pounds, comprising:
  1. vehicles designed to transport 16 or more passengers including the driver and,
  2. vehicles used in the transportation of hazardous materials which requires the vehicle to be placarded under 49 CFR, part 172, sub- part F. Minimum age 18.

Valid Non-Commercial Classifications:
    D = Any vehicle which is not a commercial vehicle as defined above. Minimum age 14 with a licensed adult; age 16 without adult.
    M = Motorcycle only (over 250cc.) Minimum age 16.
    MD = Motor Driver Cycle (50cc - 250cc.) Minimum age 14 expires on 16th birthdate.
    ID = Identification Card. Minimum age is 14. You cannot have both a valid driver license and an id card at the same time, (a status code such as suspended, revoked etc. enables the licensee to obtain an id card which is only valid during the disqualification period).
    X = Dummy License. This is not a valid license. It enables the department to record conviction information whenever a violation is received and there is no corresponding license.

VAL = Valid A = With Licensed Adult
SUS = Suspended B = Corrective Lenses
UNJ = Unsatisfied Judgement C = Mechanical Aid
DED = Deceased D = Prosthetic Aid
CAN = Cancelled E = Automatic Transmission
RST = Restricted F = Outside Mirror
DIS = Disqualified G = Daylight Driving Only
DEN = Denied H = Class B or C with Passengers and Class D
PRO = Probation I = Class C only with Passengers
REV = Revoked J = Other- See Attachment
FIN = Financial Responsibility K = Vehicles without Airbrakes
N/A = Not Applicable (CDL Only) L = Interlock Device
S School, Church or Transit Bus
There can be multiple statuses returned. U = Class D only with Passengers
Y = Diesel Fuel, Fertilizer Only
Z = Seasonal Farm Service Vehicle

Valid Endorsements:
H = Hazardous Materials
T = Double/Triples
P = Passengers
MD = Motor Driven Cycle
N = Tank Vehicle
X = Combines H & N
M = Motorcycle
V = Valid Without Photo (Not On License)
